7 Deadly Fashion Sins

Oh honey, believe me, there are waaaay more than 7. But here are my biggest peeves at the moment.

1. White leggings
Okay, let me tell you why I think this is ALWAYS a sin on EVERYBODY. Because even Gisele Bundchen has cellulite. All humans do. If you show me one person without an ounce of cellulite, I will apologize profusely, but that person does not exist. White leggings show off every bump and dent in your legs and ass. And they enhance it. They don't look awful but in the right light they're just so unflattering it's not even funny. No one should own these!

2. Black (hiked up) socks and shorts
This is usually a male sin. And they're so challenged in many things, aren't they? I know I'm very mean. But really, how many decent looking men do you see in the summer hiking up their black socks with shorts? Not that you should wear hiked up socks in any colour! If these men have girlfriends, then they need to do their magic and recommend a great white ankle sock...

3. Showing your bra
This is so trashy. And avoidable with a simple purchase of a convertible bra... My biggest peeve when it comes to this sin is people who do a racerback top with a regular bra. Why do I hate it? Because it's soo avoidable! Get a frikkin connector thing! (Don't you love my terminology? I mean those things that hook the back of your bra together. Cheap and very easy.)

4. These ugly sandals...
People tell me I'm so mean to older and non-fashion-conscious people. Well, you know what? I don't feel remorseful. Because I've seen people 60 and up dressing fabulously yet age appropriate. Anyway, these exact sandals were what I had in mind when I googled "ugly sandals", and this picture came up, lol. Proves I'm not the only one. No one should own this monstrosity!

5. Not dressing for your body type
C'mon, this one's obvious. Honestly, not everything looks good on everyone, even on supermodels. Well, maybe them, but not for us humans. Now to the biggest extreme, I'm reffering to very overweight people who wear very revealing clothing. It's great you're confident, but you need to look somewhat respectable...I saw a 300 pound girl at Wal-Mart the other day wearing bum-bearing daisy dukes. No, honey. That is not cute.

6. Platform Flip-flops
Two words: Euro trash. Oh, and since this particular type of flip-flop got it's own spot on my list, I just wanna add that wearing flip-flops on inappropriate occasions is wrong as well!

7. (Adults wearing) T-shirts with cheesy slogans
Do you realize how many adults are going out wearing t-shirts that say "cutie", "babe", or "flirt" on them? Do you? Honestly (and I say this in a non-racist way), a lot of foreign ladies wear this because they don't know what it means or something and they got it for two bucks at a second hand store. It's true and you know it.

5 celebs I wish would take a freakin' risk

I'm so sick of seeing these celebs don the same looks, day after day and night after night. Switch it up, please!

1. Jennifer Aniston
All the Friends fans are probably angry at me right now, but yes, Jennifer, you are so boring! Since you've become a star we've pretty much seen the same thing every single time: sleek hair, simple dresses, and solid coloured pumps. I'm yawning and I'm falling asleep. Ever heard of taking a risk, even for one measly time? You're too comfortable in that feel-good style, Jen. Some variety would be nice.

2. Taylor Swift
Not falling too far behind Aniston is Ms. Swift. What scares me is that Taylor is younger and much newer in the scene, and yet she's still doing the same look over and over again. Big curls, red lips, sparkly dress. Those all sound sexy and exciting, and they are, but only when you do it once in a blue moon. Ohh, and how wonderful she looked at the American Music Awards with straight hair! What a tease.

3. Mandy Moore
She's sweet, beautiful and has a clean and sleek style. Great, let's see you try something else, Mandy! She's never on Worst Dressed, but I seldom see her in Best Dressed either...yawn.

4. Kristen Bell
She's so cute, but a Google search of her name will yield you and a whole lotta the same hairstyle and a whole lotta neutrals. I'd love to see her try some rockerish smokey eyes, don a pair of statement pumps in a crazy pattern, or surprise us with a crazy updo!

5. Renee Zellweger
Hmm, I don't know...I think there's a fine line between having a signature style and just being a Plain Jane. I always see Renee wearing dresses to events...I'd like to see a well tailored pants suit once in a while. And I feel like she's dressing too old for her age, by Hollywood standards, anyway. She's what, younger than 40? C'mon, some celebs are over 50 and wearing more daring and youthful outfits. You got the body, Renee. Take some risks!

5 unexpected beauty secrets

Here are some random beauty tips that I'm a big fan of!

1) Clutch space is limited - but whatever you do, make space for Q-Tips
Many of you fashion junkies probably already know Q-Tips are an essential beauty tool (I think their slogan is something like that, actually). I didn't always realize their power. On a night out, even with primer and waterproof liner, eye makeup can need an adjustment. Your fingers are usually too big or not precise enough to do these delicate touch-ups. Keep a single Q-Tip, some gloss and some translucent powder in that teeny tiny clutch and you'll be good for the night when it comes to makeup touch ups.

2) Spraying your face with hairspray will set your makeup!
Yes, crazy and seemingly not too healthy, but true. Only do this before a big event. I heard this tip came from Jersey Shore..ugh. But it works, promise.

3) When going for volume and saving on time, putting rollers on only the top layer of your hair will do just fine
I love big, sexy hair, a la Kim Kardashian. But I'm also a busy girl on a schedule (like all of us, right?). So, When I blow-dry my hair, I just separate my wet hair into 2 parts, and clip the bottom part, blow-out the top and then put rollers and move on to the bottom. Once the bottom is blown out, I leave it and move on to my makeup, and once my outfit is on, I remove my rollers and voila! Plenty of volume.

4) Vaseline is a good eye soother
My girlfriend who is crazy about eye makeup told me to rub Vaseline on my eyelids after I remove my eye makeup. It totally helps soothe them and makes them less puffy from all that rigorous rubbing (think waterproof eyeliner AND mascara...UGH).

5) A toothbrush is seriously one of the very best hair tools ever!
Good-bye ugly little flyaways, just takes a little hairspray and a good old plain toothbrush. And hello? It's cheap. Don't use your toothbrush that you brush your teeth with, lol.

Breaking the Rules

Hi style dolls! I want to talk about fashion "rules", and why I love to break them.

I sometimes come across "rules" to follow that I just will never agree with. For example, I recently read that although you don't have to match your toe and finger nail colour, they should be in the same colour family. I disagree. For example, I rocked pastel green toe nails and lilac fingers yesterday. I did it on purpose! Why would I want to limit myself to being boring?

Also, the age-old rule of not wearing leggings as pants. Normally, YES, I follow this rule! No crop tops with leggings! However, I think leather leggings are an exception. I rocked this outfit the other day at a BBQ...

I totally think the belly-baring crop top works with the leggings. Oh, I wish I had a front shot that showed the whole outfit, but most of the pictures were with alcohol in hand lol.

Another apparent faux-pas is wearing straw fedoras at night...I was reading this one evening waiting for friends, and realized I was wearing a straw fedora, lol. Well I rocked this outfit on a night out at the movies and I loved it!

You know what I read once? The #1 rule in fashion is, there are no rules! So if you feel great and look fabulous, breaking the rules is well worth it. :)

Inspiration and great finds...

I would like to share where I get great products and/or inspiration via the web. :)

First of all, today I reunited with an old friend. www.myshoes.com is an amazing website that allows you to pick a style, prince range, details and so much more of the shoes you're looking for. If you're like me, you'll visualize the perfect pair of shoes and nothing you come across in stores quite fits your vision. With this site, I tempt myself regularly by picking my ultimate shoe at my ideal price range. For example, I've been on the prowl for a sexy pair of statement red pumps with a cute detail...preferably a bow. And of course, I love suede. So I searched and found this beauty...

As for inspiration, I go to www.people.com every day for style tips. Just click on "style", and you'll find a whole world of inspiration from celebs...and usually People provides an affordable version. They have a section that's called "You asked, we found" or something along those lines where they do exactly that. Sometimes when you read People you just see something and wonder where the heck you can snag the same thing. It'd be amazing if they listed it on every page, but that's what the site is for! Oh, and looking at pictures from any event provides great inspiration...this is an outfit Rihanna wore that I am going to pay homage to soon on a night out. I got the bustier jersey top and nude pumps, and will even do a similar 'do cause it's soo hot!

Anyway, I'm out for today. Will write again when I'm inspired. :) Happy hunting, fashion dolls! xo
