An exciting anouncement!

I am so excited to announce that I will be embarking on a month-long alcohol cleanse. This may seem like nothing, but I haven't gone without drinking for even a week for as long as I can remember.

So why am I doing this? Well, like quite a few people my age, I've had nights of blackouts. These don't happen every time I drink, but they do happen more often than they should. Actually, blackouts should never happen to anyone. Binge drinking is obviously not healthy, but the majority of college students do it! I hate waking up, not remembering anything, feeling like shit and regretting things I did. I've had too many of those mornings.

I've been thinking about some upsides to not drinking. Saving money is a huge plus! Not just on alcohol, but on things I buy when I'm drunk, like food, taxis, etc. Of course health is a huge factor. My liver may be young and healthy but it could use a break...seriously. Plus side number three would be working out more! I work out almost every day, but on days when I'm hungover I'm just not as productive. Not to mention passing on alcohol's extra calories is a great way to shed some weight. Oh, and by the way, I would totally go out to clubs and just not drink. I still wanna have fun. Which brings me to my next upside - the sober advantage. You don't look sloppy in pictures, you can dance all night, and beer goggles won't affect your judgment when it comes to grenades.

Thinking about all this, I wonder why I drink at all. Okay, so drinking can definitely make things more interesting and fun. Yes, if you drink a little here and there it's all good. So yes, I love to drink and don't want to quit forever. But doing this cleanse will help me prove to myself (and perhaps others too) that I don't need alcohol to have a fun life. I'm not an alcoholic. I am a fun person who is perfectly capable of having a good time without being hammered! And I'm beyond excited about all the shoes I'll buy with the money I save...

I will keep you posted very often, as soon as I start (next weekend on either the 4th or 5th will be my last night with alcohol until my birthday). Talk to you soon!!
